The schedule for Hope’s annual Heritage Festival is so full of fun things, I’m not sure they could possibly fit anything else on it! This year’s theme is “Hope, a Family Tradition” and I love the addition of the “Gallery of Hope’s Family History” that will be displayed in the Catholic Hall.
The Chamber will be there, as usual, hosting the Turtle Races. Participants need to bring their own turtles and they must be clean of any paint or decoration. Check in time starts at 9 am and nontoxic paints will be provided to decorate your racers. We’ll be doing qualifying heats at 10 am and 11 am and the winners from those races will come back and race in the final at 12 pm! It’s always lots of fun!
Brian Haden is hoping for a record turnout at the Car Show this year and the Pin Up contest has a new coordinator this year and I’m sure that Dani Heels will be bringing new aspects to this crowd favorite!
Between the 3 on 3 Basketball Tourney, the Rock Paper Scissors Tourney, the parade, the vendors, kids games, the amazing life sized games that Brian made, the 5k, carriage rides, banana cycles, all the food, and so much more; it’s bound to be a great day!
Then to top off an already great day, the locals favorite Clearview Band will be playing that evening!
Let’s all come out and show the Hope Community Project Committee how much we appreciate all their hard work.
The Chamber’s fall Quarter Mania event is getting bigger every day. Our local Subway has jumped in on the fun and will have valuable coupons for everyone who attends. Our list of vendors is growing to include Scentsy, Origami Owl, the ladies of Beta Sigma Phi (Xi Gamma Epsilon chapter), It Works, and Pink Zebra. It’s going to be a great event so be sure and put September 20 on your calendar.
We had another great Social Media for Beginners class last week; everyone learned so much. We have had a request for a class on using Word and/or Excel. If anyone would be interested in that, please contact me here at the Chamber office. If you have any other requests for training classes, let us know that as well.
The date has been set for our next Quarter Mania event. If you haven’t attended one, you really should, they are a ton of fun! We’ll be partnering with the HMH Auxiliary again and the date is Sunday, September 20 at 3 pm. I hope we see you all there!
As we roll into fall, more and more local organizations will be setting dates for events and fundraisers. When doing that, be sure and check out the community calendar on the Chamber’s website to make sure that we don’t have important events at the same time. The web address is tricountycofc.com
As 2014 draws to a close, I get so extremely excited looking ahead to all the fun things we have planned for 2015!
The Chamber’s Fun Committee has already started planning for our next Quarter Mania event on Sunday, February 8. We’ll be partnering with the PEO for this event and look to build on our one and make this one even more fun! Anyone interested in being a vendor can contact Leslie Mayes.
The Chamber has always hosted an annual banquet and awards dinner the last Monday in January. We are moving the date back two weeks to Monday, February 9 and we are looking to make it even more of a community event.
During the social hour, we’re going to have a Groups & Organizations Showcase. Have you been wanting to get involved in your community, but didn’t know where to start? We will offer all of the groups and organizations in town a place to come out and tell you who they are and what they do. If you belong to a group and would like to reserve a space during the showcase, contact Stephanie Gilbert at Prairie Chic.
We are working on a lot more new and exciting things for the banquet and awards dinner, but for now we’ll be keeping them “under our hat”. (and yes, that is a clue!)
I hope that everyone has had as fantastic of a year as we have had here at the Chamber. It is our pleasure to serve our members and our community.
Come out and support the Hospital Auxiliary and the Chamber’s Fun Committee and have a great time in the process! A quarter auction is a cross between a raffle, an auction, and a really big home party! You have a chance to bid on and win prizes from 17 different company’s products from Vault Denim to Jamberry Nails to Shakeology to Origami Owl Jewelry.
The Hospital Auxiliary will have snacks and beverages and there will be plenty of time for shopping as well. Entry is $5 for one paddle or 4 paddles for $10. The event will be from 3pm to 5pm at the Herington Community Building. We hope to see you there.
The date has been set for our 2nd Annual Witches Brew ladies afternoon: October 26. We’ll be expanding the event this year so we’ll be in the Community building so even MORE people can attend. Like last year we’ll have a costume contest and a fun get to know everyone game, lots of food, and prizes; but this year we’re going to add an exciting scavenger hunt! So grab your broom and your best witches and plan on a fun afternoon.
