Another Busy Week Ahead!

Another busy week down and another busy one on the way!

I hope you had as much fun at the Hospital fundraiser as I did!  Did you see my doxie skirt?

Don’t forget next Tuesday, April 22nd, is Earth Day and also the citywide Earth Day Clean Up Day.  The Chamber could use a few more volunteers to help get the downtown area spiffed up before the Throttle Jockey’s Car Show on the 26th.  Just show up and we’ll have plenty of squeegees to use as we follow behind the power washers and clean all the windows.

Bring the little ones down to Father Padilla Park at 1pm this Saturday for the Beta Sigma Phi ladies’ annual Easter Egg Hunt.  It’s so cute to watch them scramble!

We’re debuting a new event at the Chamber office on April 29th; we’re calling it Talk Back Tuesday. We’d like to hear from all of our Chamber members, both businesses and individuals. Come in and find out if you are getting everything that you can from your membership; also tell us what you think about all the changes that we’ve made in the last year and make suggestions.  We’ll have coffee and snacks all day. The office will be open from 8am to 7pm for those that want to come in after work. I will be here as well as our Executive Board President Ed Mueller and other board members will cycle in throughout the day. We want to hear from YOU!  Talk Back Tuesday!Talk Back Tuesday

What a Difference a Year Makes

As I walked around the Wizard of Oz Mother/Daughter Dinner last weekend, I got to thinking about what a difference a year makes.  At the Down the Rabbit Hole event last year, it was a sea of mostly unrecognizable faces for me, when a person I knew sprinkled in here and there.  This year, every time I turned around, there was a lady that over the last year, I have come to know and care about.  As a former Marine wife, I can’t tell you how happy it makes my heart to have become a part of this community.

What a fantastic giving community it is as well, we rally around our own and take care of them.  I hope to see everyone next Monday, the 14th, at the benefit Hamburger Feed & Silent Auction to support Pete Schultz and his family as he goes through treatment for a rare kidney disease!  Don’t worry about dinner, come and enjoy some good grub starting at 5pm and going on until everyone is fed.

I also hope to see everyone at the 5th Annual HMH Foundation Spring Fling this Saturday!  Pull out those poodle skirts and grease back your hair for hopping good time.  There will be great food, kids’ games, Bingo and Texas Hold ‘Em, Silent Auctions, and the ever popular live auction!

Keep your eyes open Friday afternoon, I hear some cute bobby-sockers will be running around town handing out kids’ game tickets and just generally being cute!
