I’ve said it again and again: my friends who told me that I would get bored living in a rural area just didn’t know what they were talking about. Every time you turn around in the Tri-County Area, there are just a plethora of choices of fun or interesting things to do.
This Saturday the VFW is hosting a breakfast where you can get VA help from a VA Services specialist and the Burdick Bunch Relay for Life team is hosting a “Tee off for the Cure” fundraising tournament. A local knitting and crochet group meets every Tuesday in the Herington Library and on August 14, the Herington Library is hosting a Great Gardening seminar where you can learn about soil conservation and organic gardening.
Both the Herington Senior Center and the Hilltop Community Center have a full and varied schedule of interesting activities – be sure and check out the tabletop calendars around town for a full list.
Bingo is available two days a week at the American Legion and the VFW, the American Legion is doing a Shrimp Boil out at the lake, and for the youth, the Herington Youth Group has two activities planned in the next few weeks.
If Festivals are your thing, we’re on the cusp of FOUR different festivals in the next eight weeks: Herington Vintage Days on August 21-23, Burdick’s Labor Day Celebration on August 31 & September 1, Hope’s Heritage Festival & Car Show on September 6, and Lincolnville’s Octoberfest on October 4.
So much fun! Be sure and check out the tabletop calendars or the Chamber’s on-line community calendar for all the details. www.tricountycofc.com/calendar
Please remember that the Chamber office will be staffed by volunteers from August 8 – 15, so new UPS packages will only be processed between 12noon and 1pm. You can drop off prelabeled packages any time between 9am and 4pm, but if you need to pay for a label it can only be done between 12noon and 1pm.
